Piranha, it is difficult that you haven’t heard about Piranha boats, after 40 years of tradition and innovative ideas developing white water kayaks. One of the results after so many years of designing is Burn. I still remember the grand grandfather of Burn, H2, since then Piranha was the pionir Of » knife edges« and way different from all other brands.

The new Burn, this is the result after so many years of shaping. I did a test run a few days ago and this boat will give you the same feeling like it looks like, ”aggressive”. This is how it is on the water very precise and stabile. I paddled L size and it felt bigger from the last L model, more floatable, lot of space under the cockpit for expeditions and nice traditional work on the outfit. After a few strokes I felt like at home cruising on the way to Soca Katarakt. Fast into the edy, quick curving in the edy turn and out, like a slalom carving skis. Lot of hips work but less stroke energy. Also down in the katarakt gorge where I thought that it is gonna loss its properties the front re-profiled rocker gave enough control over boofs without losing speed. Even the improved cockpit which is lower gives you a better feeling holding the boat.

For shore you have to be very careful on side slides, because of the edges but this is the price that you have to pay for a fast, precise and comfortable boat.

 Piranha, chi non ha mai sentito parlare dei kayak di Piranha, dopo 40 anni di tradizione e idée innovative nel design di canoe da acqua Bianca. Uno dei risultati dopo anni di design è la Burn e ancora mi ricordo del suo antenato, la H2 e fin da allora Piranha è stato il pioniere del fondo a spigoli vivi, che lo differenziava di parecchio rispetto agli altri marchi presenti sul mercato.

La nuova Burn, questo è il risultato dopo diversi anni di “sagomatura” e affinamento dello scafo. Qualche giorno fa l’ho provata e mi ha dato la stessa impressione di come si presenta: aggressiva. E così risulta in acqua, molto precisa e stabile. Ho pagaiato la versione “L” e mi è sembrata più grossa della precedente versione “L” , più galleggiante, parecchio spazio disponibile all’interno del pozzetto per le spedizioni e un buon lavoro per quanto riguarda l’outfitting. Dopo qualche pagaiata mi sono sentito subito a casa mentre mi dirigevo verso il Soca Katarakt. Veloce l’entrata e l’uscita in morta, ottimo carving, preciso e direzionale come gli sci ultimo modello.  Necessita di maggior lavoro e attenzione nell’uso dei fianchi, ma meno sforzo in pagaiata. Anche giù in Katarakt canyon, dove pensavo avrebbe perso un po’ delle sue proprietà, la punta ri-disegnata con un buon rocker mi permetteva sufficiente controllo durante i boof senza perdere velocità. Anche la parte ribassata intorno al pozzetto fornisce un ottimo feeling durante il controllo con i fianchi.

Sicuramente bisogna prestare attenzione negli slides laterali a causa degli spigoli del fondo, ma questo è il prezzo da pagare per una barca veloce, precisa e comoda.
