Dragorossi 77 Test - Review

The new Dragorossi’s little beast: the 77!

The 77 is the 88’s little sister, designed for girls or light weights.Compared to the 88 it’s obviously narrower, shorter and with less volume, but it shares the same line of the big sister.
So the 77 has all the features of the 88 but it's more agile and more manageable for light weight paddlers: they can actually feel more at ease in it, not being cashed like when they’re in bigger boats like the 88. The seat is also smaller so you don’t need to fill the spaces with foam or some improvised padding.
The narrower cockpit is a great advantage, especially for this boat's target paddlers: when paddling, you can really put your paddle vertically in the water and have more leverage, more power and better propulsion. Like its bigger sister, the 77 doesn’t have hard rails, so it’s easy and predictable, very soft and fast in eddies' hopping.
The main characteristic of this boat is the great softness of the ride. Like the 88, if you’re in the right weight range, it boofs well; the holes never prove to be a problem and the tail never an issue.
The outfitting is simple and functional, comfortable and tight seat: there's a lot of space in front for your throwline or peli case and two rubber bands for a bottle.
In the video below you can see some advantages of having your throwbag in front of you instead of behind the seat!

The ideal weight range is around 55- 65kg, from beginners to expert paddlers. Also heavier weights can enjoy the 77, but the space inside the boat is minded for short people - it’ll be harder to fit inside if you’re taller than 1.75, and the behavior changes a lot if you’re heavier than 70kg: the boat will actually sit lower in the water, being suitable and fun for riverunning. Overall, it's a very easy boat that fits like a tailored suit to smaller paddlers, who can improve their paddling and feel more at ease with the right boat for them.
