The volume is increased by 50 liters (which are not few) distributed fairly evenly, but with greater attention to the rear area, which immediately appears much more important than the Five. The width is only 2 cm larger, but spread over a wider hull section, and you can feel the difference. But above all what changes is the connection of the design between the bottom and the side, rounded in the Five, while it presents a rather sharp edge in the new model.
As for the interior, the handles and the cap, so as not to repeat ourselves, we refer to what has already been written in the review of Five, with the distinction that, given the increased volume, in this model the habitability is much greater, as is the light in the cockpit, which is wider at the front.
Same goes for the material, but on the Cross the mold has been slightly more refined, eliminating many of those small aesthetic imperfections found on the previous model, even without having yet achieved the attention to detail of other brands. On the other hand, functionality and weight containment are excellent. There is also the fifth handle in front of the cockpit, absent in the Five.
The measurements of this new kayak are: 272 x 67cm x 21 kg compared to the 270 x 65 x 20 kg of the Five. But the liters, as we said, increase from 300 to 350.
Behavior in water.
The manufacturer's intention was to obtain a kayak that would maintain the excellent performance of the Five, while being more user friendly and suitable for heavier paddlers. The goal seems to have been achieved, especially for paddlers over 75 kg. Primary stability is greater, albeit without reaching that of some 69/70 cm wide models, but above all it is decidedly greater, compared to the "little sister", the secondary stability, effect of the greater volume in the tail and the higher side, but the However, kayaking must always be conducted with decision, otherwise the tail can become sensitive. The speed does not seem to be affected too much by the modest increase in width, but in the restarts it is a little less ready.
Always excellent boof skills and ease of keeping the tip high and out of the water. Direction control is good, even in the presence of turbulence, even if, at least for lighter paddlers, the sensation is less agile than the Five. Soft and smoothly the roll.
In conclusion, while the Five seems more suitable for light paddlers who prefer a very sensitive and dynamic hull, the Cross will be the right choice for paddlers over 80 kg or even less if they are looking for a more forgiving hull to tackle really high difficulties.
A prima vista, il nuovo creeker del brand ceco, sembra una Five L ma, sebbene la linea generale ricordi quella di quest'ultima, la Cross presenta differenze significative nella distribuzione dei volumi e nel disegno del fondo.
Il volume è maggiorato di 50 litri (che non sono pochi) distribuiti abbastanza equamente, ma con maggior attenzione alla zona posteriore, che appare subito molto più importante rispetto alla Five. La larghezza è maggiore di soli 2 cm, ma distribuiti su una sezione di scafo più ampia, e la differenza si sente. Ma soprattutto quello che cambia è il raccordo del disegno tra fondo e fianco, arrotondato nella Five, mentre presenta uno spigolo piuttosto vivo nel nuovo modello.
Per quel che riguarda l'allestimento interno, le maniglie e il tappo, per non ripeterci, facciamo riferimento a quanto già scritto nella recensione della Five, con il distinguo che, dato l'accresciuto volume, in questo modello l'abitabilità è decisamente maggiore, così come la luce del pozzetto, che anteriormente è più largo.
Stesso discorso per il materiale, ma sulla Cross lo stampo è stato leggermente più curato, eliminando molte di quelle piccole imperfezioni estetiche riscontrate sul modello precedente, pur senza aver ancora raggiunto la cura dei dettagli di altri marchi. Ottima invece la funzionalità e il contenimento del peso. E' presente inoltre la quinta maniglia di fronte al pozzetto, assente nella Five.

Comportamento in acqua.
L'intenzione del produttore era quella di ottenere un kayak che mantenesse le ottime performance del Five, essendo però più user friendly e adatto a paddlers più corpulenti. L'obiettivo si direbbe realizzato, specialmente per canoisti al di sopra dei 75 kg. La stabilità primaria è maggiore, pur senza arrivare a quella di alcuni modelli larghi 69/70 cm, ma soprattutto è decisamente maggiore, rispetto alla "sorellina", la stabilità secondaria, effetto del maggior volume in coda e del fianco più alto, ma il kayak va comunque sempre condotto con decisione, altrimenti la coda può diventare sensibile. La velocità sembra non risentire troppo del modesto aumento di larghezza, ma nelle ripartenze è un pochino meno pronta.
Sempre ottime le doti di boof e la facilità a mantenere la punta alta e fuori dall'acqua. Buono il controllo della direzione, anche in presenza di turbolenze, anche se, almeno per i paddler più leggeri, la sensazione è di minore agilità, rispetto alla Five. Morbido e senza intoppi l'eskimo.
In conclusione mentre la Five sembra più adatta a paddlers leggeri che prediligono uno scafo molto sensibile e dinamico, la Cross sarà la scelta giusta per canoisti sopra gli 80 kg o anche meno se cercano uno scafo che perdoni di più, per affrontare difficoltà davvero elevate.
