The Guatape is a river in Antioquia Department, tributary of Samana North river. The scene of this river and the color of the water in the upper part are just perfect. This year as Jules Domine told us we have started a few km above the usual put in, a bit below from the hydroelectric plant. The water level wasn’t the high but adequate, is a call III and IV with a short class V close to end.
A minor inconvenience happened in this section that is actually the last rapid. The thing is that we were coming down quite fast and suddenly Ben and Todd were falling in a short section mined of siphon; Ben pass with some bony rolls, Todd ends with half of his kayak in a siphon that later was pull out with a rope. The rest of kayakers did a portage.
