  Il Bolero, prodotto in due misure, si colloca nel segmento dei kayak da turismo per escursioni di breve o media lunghezza, giornaliere o di qualche giorno al massimo.

Prodotto in Inghilterra, si notano subito i materiali e le finiture di qualità, equipaggiato con corde perimetrali ed elastici in coperta, due capienti gavoni e uno skeg dal funzionamento molto semplice ma efficiente, sedile imbottito, poggiaschiena dalle dimensioni generose, puntapiedi a regolazione rapida. 

In spalla risulta abbastanza leggero rispetto ai kayak da 5 o più metri in polietilene ai quali sono abituato, fattore molto positivo per chi deve caricarlo e scaricarlo spesso dal tetto della macchina o per chi ha della strada da fare per arrivare all’imbarco.

Il sedile, a prima vista non troppo sofisticato, si rivela invece comodissimo, il puntapiedi si regola in un attimo anche stando già seduti nel kayak, al posto del premi-cosce abbiamo delle imbottiture fissate alla coperta, comode ma non particolarmente avvolgenti.  In caso di mare mosso o durante la manovra dell’eskimo bisognerà prestare un po’ di attenzione.

In acqua, stabilissimo ed estremamente maneggevole, tiene comunque la linea, l’impostazione interna, all’apparenza spartana, si rivela invece eccellente per una corretta posizione di busto e gambe,  consentendo una pagaiata molto rilassata, piacevole ed efficace.

Risente abbastanza del vento laterale, problema che viene risolto egregiamente attraverso l’utilizzo dello skeg presente di serie.

 

La velocità è sorprendente  considerate le dimensioni del kayak.  Si possono tenere comodamente per tutto il giorno i 7/7.5 kmh di media con punte di 12 kmh.  Risultato decisamente al di sopra alle aspettative! 

In conclusione direi che ad un prezzo di 779,00 euro  completamente equipaggiato il Bolero si è rivelato un ottimo affare, stabile,  veloce, comodo, un metro di lunghezza in meno rispetto ai classici seakayaks (ma non si sente). E con poco più di metà prezzo rispetto ai seakayaks in polietilene attualmente in circolazione, lo consiglierei a chiunque cerchi un kayak economico ma curato, facilmente gestibile a livello di rimessaggio, carico/scarico, per escursioni di qualche ora, o di qualche giorno.

The Bolero, available  in two sizes,  is positioned within the tour kayak range to be used in short or medium length daily or few days trip.

It’s manufactured in UK and all can immediately notice the quality of the materials and finishes employed. It’s equipped with side ropes and top deck rubber bands;  two large hatches and a very simple but efficient skeg, a padded seat, a large-sized back band and  a quick adjustment  footrest.

While carrying it feels  lighter than >5mtrs PE kayaks you can find on the market and I’m pretty sure everyone can appreciate this feature during upload and download operations or while getting to the put-in.

The seat doesn’t appear too sophisticated at a first sight, but then it’s really supercomfy,  the footrest  can be adjusted  very quickly even by sitting in the kayak.  Instead of the thigh braces, they placed some padding  in the inner part of the deck, but they aren’t particularly enveloping. In case of rough sea or during an eskimo roll it’s better to pay attention.

In the water it feels very stable and extremely maneuverable, it keeps well the line. The inner outfitting, apparently too basic, it appears to be excellent to maintain a correct position of body and legs, in order to paddle in a more relaxed, pleasant and efficient way.

Sometimes it can be  affected by side wind, but through the use of the skeg  (comes standard) the problem is solved.

Its speed is amazing considering kayak’s length. You can easily go all day at an average speed of 7/7.5 kmh with 12kmh peak. This is really exceeding all the expectations! 

To summarize, at a price of  779,00 euro fully equipped  the Bolero it’s a big deal. Very stable, fast, comfortable and with a meter of length less than the classic seakayaks (but you don’t feel it). And with a little bit more than half price of a classic PE sea kayak today on the market, I’d recommend it to anyone is looking for a cost-effective kayak but with a nice finish, well manufactured, easy to handle in terms of storage and for a couple of hours or days trip.
