Alpin Action Whitewater SUP clinic (EN)

Alpin Action 2-3 May Trnovo ob Soci

Whitewater SUP clinic, Level 1

This clinic is targeted towards people who have little or no SUP experience. This includes kayakers who are proficient at whitewater kayaking and canoeing. The class covers a number of key critical basic SUP skills, from correct standing techniques, paddling techniques and strokes, and basic river rapid negotiation. Since you are not "attached" to a SUP like you are a kayak, the ability to "dance" on board the SUP while in whitewater is key, as well as understanding the real and significant differences on how and where you'd run rapids on a SUP as compared to a kayak. Some basic surfing skills are also explored

Whitewater SUP clinic, level 2

Here we go into more advanced skills. Participants need to have either taken the level 1 class, or have a fair amount of experience through their own "trial and error". Participants must be able to navigate easily class 2-3 on a paddleboard, make basic eddy turns and have the subtleties of on-board balance and rapid running skills relatively well mastered. We will explore in this more advanced skills needed for advanced river running, eddy catching, boofing (waterfalls and drops). Cross stepping eddy turns, cross bow paddling and ferrying, and the various fine tuned skills required to take SUP into class 3+ and even 4+ are worked on in this class.
