Victory HV: 3 layers sandwich PE kayak, with 4 waterproof hatches, rudder and skeg belonging to the category “British style”, namely with the front side wider than the back. Available in one size only (L). At a glance it doesn’t impress for its appearance and neither for the quality of the finishes. While seated the feeling is of an extreme comfort thanks to the big volume in the front deck, but that doesn’t affect the paddle stroke as the tapered sides offer enough room for that (see pic). The primary stability is good, but not excessive, which to my opinion has the benefit to offer more possibility of maneuvering if you find yourself in rough sea conditions with high waves. Excellent secondary stability which makes it safe during extreme moves. Not a great speed especially during acceleration, but more than enough during touring trips. What impressed me the most was the maneuverability, extraordinary I’d say. It’s enough to lean a bit the kayak sideward and make a circular paddle stroke that the boat will turn almost like a river boat and the more you lean the more it turns. I’ve never seen any sea kayak of more than 5 metres behaving like that. The rudder works fine, easy to put in and out of the water and to control with the feet thanks to the adjustment system located just above the footrest. To summarize, I’d say a very good choice if you think of using it in rough seas with high waves, as the big volume in the front deck allows a precise control and a neutral behaviour of maximum safety in such environments.
