Da quel “paese-dei-balocchi” che è Alpin Action, non ho saputo resistere nel comprarmi l’ultimo arrivo in fatto di calzature per acqua bianca, le Bestard Aquapro. Confesso la mia ignoranza nel non aver mai sentito parlare di questo brand spagnolo, ma scopro gironzolando nel loro sito che sono piuttosto nuovi solo in questo specifico settore mentre dal 1940 producono scarpe da montagna di ottima qualità nel loro stabilimento a Mallorca.

Ho acquistato le Aquapro immediatamente dopo aver toccato con mano la bontà di questo articolo, dopo aver constatato la robustezza dei materiali, per lo meno al tatto e dopo aver effettuato un paragone semplice sulle piastrelle con le suole di altre scarpe in fatto di “grip”: le Aquapro sembravano cementate al suolo!

Le Aquapro, come da nome, sono state sviluppate specificatamente per offrire massime performance negli sport acquatici, quindi kayak, canyoning, rafting, trekking in ambienti tropicali e monsonici, ma allo stesso tempo si possono utilizzare per vie ferrate, camminate, o avvicinamenti alle pareti di arrampicata, quindi anche in ambienti non necessariamente acquatici. Ecco già un notevole vantaggio, con una scarpa posso combinare molteplici utilizzi. Aquapro sono costituite nella parte superiore da H2O Microtech, Cordura® e da una robusta gomma detta Rubber Pro, hanno una soletta interna chiamata Bestflex2 e la suola, la vera chicca di queste Aquapro, è il massimo disponibile da Vibram®, le Best Idrogrip + EVA. Hanno un’anatomia particolarmente ricercata e peculiare grazie a una mescola differenziata dove la parte anteriore e posteriore conferiscono il massimo del grip, nella parte centrale dell’avampiede è concentrata la trazione, nella parte centrale-posteriore vi è una zona frenante e sull’esterno la stabilità. Top! Sono dotate di lacci fissati su robuste fettucce con una flessibilità e facilità di apertura impressionante. Una volta legati, il nodo/fiocco ha la possibilità di essere riposto in un apposito taschino all’interno della linguetta, per migliorare la sicurezza quando i piedi sono all’interno del kayak. Hanno inoltre elementi riflettenti per una migliore visibilità in zone buie e un’efficiente area di drenaggio dell’acqua dall’interno. Insomma cura dei particolari e ricerca dei migliori materiali disponibili questo è Aquapro!

 Provate in kayak le Aquapro si sono confermate come la scarpa definitiva! Comode e morbide alla calzata e con una stabilità sensazionale. Ho provato a muovermi lungo le rive del Soča in una zona con massoni e il risultato di tenuta sul quasi verticale sia asciutto che bagnato è impressionante. Saltellando da un sasso ad un altro ci si sente molto sicuri grazie all’ottima stabilità considerando che è una scarpa bassa. Anche in acqua la sensazione è buona, non sembra si impregnino troppo, rendendo la camminata leggera ed efficace. La prima impressione è sicuramente molto positiva, certo vanno usate per capire la robustezza nel tempo, ma per ora sono soddisfatto.

Entering that Kayak Shopping Paradise called Alpin Action I saw the latest arrivals in water shoes and I couldn’t resist in purchasing the new Bestard Aquapro. I confess my ignorance of having never heard about this Spanish brand, but looking through their website I discover that they are rather new only in this specific field of application whereas they have been manufacturing high quality mountain shoes in their plant in Mallorca since 1940.

I bought Aquapro immediately after having handled the caliber of this piece, after having ascertained the robustness of the materials, at least to the touch and after having made a simple comparison on the floor tiles by trying the grip of different shoe soles: Aquapro looked casehardened to the ground!

Aquapro, as by name, have been specifically designed to provide maximum performance in water sports, like kayak, canyoning, rafting, tropical and monsoon-season treks, as well as dry environments, like via ferratas, approaches, etc, hence not necessarily in wet and slippery environments. Here we have already a remarkable advantage, with one pair of shoes we can combine multiple uses. Aquapro are made in the upper area of H2O Microtech, Cordura® and of a robust layer of Rubber Pro, a midsole called Bestflex2 and the outsole, the real rock-star, it’s the top-of-the-range from Vibram® for the application, the Best Idrogrip + EVA. These outer soles have a sophisticated and peculiar anatomy thanks to a differentiated blend where the front and the back provide the best of grip, in the central area of the forefoot you get much of the traction, in the central area of the backfoot there’s a brake area and on the outer area you get stability. Really top! They have a flexible lacing system, allowing both the knot and excess laces to be tucked into a special pocket at the tongue, this interesting feature helps to improve safety inside the kayak. They also have reflective elements for better visibility in dark areas and efficient water drainage from the inside of the shoe. In conclusion care of the details and search for the best available materials, this is Aquapro!

When tested in kayak, Aquapro showed to be the ultimate water shoes! Super comfortable and flexible when on and with a great stability. I tried to move along the Soča banks in a boulder garden area and I had a great feeling of grip by standing almost vertical on both wet and dry rocks. Jumping from one boulder to the other I could feel myself very much safe thanks to the great stability also considering the low-cut. Even in the water I had a good feeling, not too much soaking, making the walk nice and effective. First impression is certainly very positive, you have to use them for some time to better understand the real robustness, but for the moment I’m really satisfied.

Cons:

-          Price, but being multi-purpose you can use them for different activities

-          A bit too large in the back area, perhaps big foot paddlers might have some problems to settle inside the boat.

It would be nice to have a high-cut shoe version in the future…
