I have been
waiting for long the chance to try the New Nomad, and finally thanks to the Pig
Party organized by Alpin Action we had an excuse to go there and try this boat.
Compared to my Tutea the Nomad is for sure a kayak more suitable for creek
runs.
Finalmente in occasione del Pig Party organizzato da Alpin
Action per la fine della stagione sono riuscita a provare la nuova Nomad S.
Sicuramente una canoa più da creek rispetto alla mia Tutea.
It is not
easy for me to find boats designed properly for my weight (55 kg) as most
kayakers are heavier than me and the production is set on that range of kilos. Dagger
didn’t make that mistake and realized a great boat for girls and children!
Non è facile trovare canoe progettate per il mio peso (55
kg), in quanto il focus del mercato canoistico è su pesi maggiori e la gran
parte dei produttori pone meno importanza alle fasce di mercato più leggere. La
Dagger non ha commesso questo errore, proponendo davvero un’ottima canoa per
donne e ragazzi!
The Soca had
a nice level during the weekend, around 60 m3, so not exactly the kind of river
the Nomad was designed for, but it did well her job. Comparing the 2 boats on
the shore is easy to see that the rocker is high both in the front and in the
back, the bow is round but the stern is pretty flat and this allows you to feel
the water and not be carried around on a barrel.
Il Soca aveva un bel livello durante il weekend della festa,
più o meno 60 m3, quindi non il vero “pane” della Nomad che tuttavia si è
comportata davvero bene. All’asciutto si può notare il rocker accentuato sia in
punta che in coda e il fondo abbastanza tondo ma non a tronco, nella parte
posteriore il fondo si appiattisce evitando che in acqua ci si senta un po’ su
un barile.
The first
thing I noticed on the water is that the bow stays over everything, the boat is
easy to turn and remains easy to control even over boilers and rocks. The
outfitting is seriously perfect, fast to fit and you can choose the height of
the seat. The weight of the boat is standard, similar to the Tutea or even a
little lighter. The only cons I could find about this boat is merely a personal
judgment: I learnt kayaking on boats with flat hull and I’m currently using the
Tutea, so I’m not accustomed to a rounder boat that is not responsive as the
flat ones. This feeling has been exalted from the direct comparison to the
Tutea and the fact that I tried it on the Soca with nice level, not exactly the
narrow creek the Nomad is built for.
In acqua ci si accorge subito che la punta sta davvero su e
passa sopra a tutto, la maneggevolezza è buona e la canoa “ammorbidisce” le
difficoltà: turbolenze, correnti laterali e sassi. Tantissimi punti per
l’impostazione interna, mai provata una canoa così facile da regolare anche in
altezza, davvero ottima. Anche il peso è nella norma. L’unico difetto che sono
riuscita a trovare è dovuto ad una pura preferenza personale. Ho imparato ad
andare in canoa con il fondo piatto e tutt’ora uso una canoa a fondo piatto,
quindi non sono abituata al tondo che mi lascia una sensazione di pigrizia nel
muoversi tra le correnti. Questa sensazione è stata sicuramente accentuata da
un confronto diretto con la Tutea a fondo decisamente piatto su un Soca
pienotto, lontano dal tipico torrente per cui è nata la Nomad.
Eventually
the Nomad is a goooood boat! The outfitting and the performance are great, it
boofs a lot and it’s forgiving. Her real soul will come out on every alpine creeks
but also on big water you will like it.
Concludo dicendo che la Nomad è ottima, prestazioni,
finiture e impostazione eccellenti, booffa bene e perdona molto. La sua vera
anima è quella del torrente alpino stretto e pendente ma anche sull’acqua non
si resta delusi!
